I find it amazing that you have been on this web site for so long and this is the first subject that you have found worthy of your input. With so many interesting topics discussed on this site one would think you would have chimed in long ago.

Its time to get back to fishing, learn some stuff about fishing, continue all being friends, we all are fishing buddies on this site so ”GROUP HUG!!!”
    Thanks, Bill

well, I did not think this subject was going to die off this soon, but I thought I would interject my 2 cents worth. I am some one who lives in the area and fishes the river nearly as much as Blackbeard “80 days a year”. I can very much empathise with Blackbeard feelings and concerns about fishing pressure. This is everyones resource, but when you live here and spend a lot of time on it, it kind of becomes one of your possessions and you feel like defending it. Not sure if this is what is at the root of Blackbeards’ original post, but I can identify with it.

I always wondered about the Sauger because almost all I catch are full of spawn so they go back in the river. I am knida of old, but in the 1980’s I took my then 9 year old son out fishing below a dam (Winona). Within a fairly short time we caught our limit of Sauger and went back to my Dad’s house to clean them. Almost every one was filled with spawn and I felt like crap. So now, if the fish has spawn in it I release it.

I am just wondering if that is what happens at Red Wind, especially in view of the heavy fishing pressure.

My vote would be for a closed or CPR season.
