I’ve got the green light for tomorrow from the wife and would like to hit the ice on lake pepin. Just wondering how the ice is measuring right now. I’m sure the main channel has got to be thinning and am aware of the bad spot on the frontenac side. I would use the Maiden Rock landing. Thanks in advance for any advice.

drove up from nelson to bay city the other day! Long point witch is just south of point no point or frontenac! has open water! I have not been out there for a few weeks but I would not recommend driving out!

there is much more current now and would expect the ice on the Minnesota side near point no point to be increasingly more dangerous!

    be careful and be smart!

    good luck!

I was out last Friday out of Maiden Rock. That access is usable but there was about 70yds of ice with 3-5 inches of water on top of it. There were trucks driving through it and parking on the good ice. I would think you should be good to go out of there but I would not drive a truck out there. I heard the Frontenac access was getting dicy. We went accross to the NoPoint area with a 4wheeler and there was on average about 4″ less ice from a week earlier. We found some areas with only 8-10″. Be very carefull around any feeder streams or points, that sheet of ice is trying to move and it was cracking a lot through the day. Fishing for us was very poor but there were a ton of fish on the flashers all day and they looked like the right kind.
    Good luck and be safe!

Stopped at the Maiden Rock landing today and talk to a buddy and another guy.The one guy had drove his mini van out beyond the red can and decided to check the ice . Walked a few feet and drilled a hole, 6″. My buddy drove 4 wheeler out. Very tricky conditions out there. Fishing was very slow but said the current has slowed way down compared to a few days ago. I wouldn’t recommend anyone driving out in a vehicle except 4 wheeler.

Fished saturday out of maiden rock, ice conditions are fine. The channel had a good foot of ice and the bay had 16 to 20 the spots I checked. the landing is pretty iffy though, I wouldnt suggest driving a vehicle out. Wheeler would be fine there was at least a dozen out on sat. There is a shack in front of the Rush that didnt make it through the thaw, just the roof is sticking out of the ice . The Rush is always a tricky spot. Happy huntin
