Slow nite. Fileing pix from last year. I’m sure we all have a few. Nice fish, bad picture. Who is that headless man? Sorry Terry!
One of the last trips….late November. Nice 25’er that nailed a ringworm.
I’ll proably find more…. Anyone else?

One more here that didn’t make the cut….

Pretty sure the fish Mike W. put me on the evening of June 10th was my P2 personal best for 2008. Thanks man.
For that short period of time I ruled as the Moores bait pool 2 tourney master felt great!
Anyway, here is a shot that didn’t make it. The fish was 28 inches, but FAT. 17 inches around the middle!

Open water, T-shirts, green leaves on the trees….
You guys are killing me here
Thanks for sharing the photos guys. Sure brings back memories. 08 was a great year on pool 2. It started early last year with a great bite going in march at the confluence for sumo saugers and huge prespawn walleyes. April if I remember right slowed things down a bit but it got going again in may with a fantastic spring bite that seemed to last until about the end of july. Wing dams, rip rap shore lines and back water areas with current put out there share of walleyes all summer long. August and September got a little challenging again for walleyes but that is typical for that time of year. The fall bite seemed to start going in late September or early October on the wing dams again. There was a fantastic low light bite for numbers of male walleyes. The larger females could be found also but needed a little more coaxing to come out. Early November the larger females started to show up a little better but the down side to this was by late November the river was freezing and that was it for the year.
Looking forward to seeing what this year brings on pool 2 again. So far its ice and snow. Its go to get better than this.
Here are a few that I’m pretty sure never got posted. I miss Pool 2 so much!
Nice fish pics John! My ’08 was pretty good. Unfortunately all my pics are on other peoples cameras; but I think most of them got posted anyway.
The biggest thing I accomplished las year was finding my own spots. I stumbled onto one spot, actually area that produced pretty well for about a month. Other people knew about that spot beforehand; but I hadn’t ever even looked at it. I was just searching for an area that matched the conditions in one spot where I had been hitting fish real well.
Another spot I found didn’t produce a lot of numbers; but it was cool because I put Nick on his personal best P2 walleye there.
It was a lot of fun in 08 getting out there and getting some decent results without always having to ask Mike where to go.

You keep finding spots like you did last year Joel and Ill be asking you where to fish.
Great pictures John. The fish in Joes photo sure has a gut on it.
Last year was my first year fishing pool 2. I PB’d down in pool 4 in March with a 28″ and then matched that twice on pool 2 from July on. With all those shad I saw in the fall I’m planning on spending a lot more time on #2 this year and hoping those 28″ers turned into 29 or 30’s! Thanks to Mike for putting me on fish late in the fall.
j
I here ya Jason. I have not boated one that could touch the 29″ mark yet. Looking forward to losing all that ice!
granted a 28″ can get pretty fat!
did anybody break 29″ on P2 last year?
Some of those 28″ fish on the river are some true trophies. There can be a big difference in weights on them from fish to fish and time of year caught. My last fish caught on pool 2 last year was a 28.5″ that weighed 10#s 4ozs. A guys got to love 28″ fish like that. Glad I at least had the scale with for that one other wise it may of just been another 28″er.
Think I only got a couple of 29s last year. They are in there. Still looking for one over 30 and if its pre spawn it will be my 1st replica on the wall.

Mike you’re talking about Carp, right? I know there are big Carp in there. I personally have no evidence whatsoever that there are Walleyes bigger than 26 inches, and as far as I can tell there’s only one of them
You guys amaze me, catching fish like that.

I really think there are a ton of fish in there over 30″. Seems like a cycle though. I have olny been fishing p2 hard for the last 4-5 years but have noticed a trend year to year. Last year I didnt break the 30″ mark but lots of 28-29. I am hoping this is a 4 year cycle sorta like you see up at Mille Lacs and other waters. 3 years ago was the best spring I had as far as length goes. This spring will be the 4th year since so I have some big hopes anyways.
Here was a cool shot from one of those foggy mornings at the end of Oct.
Any predictions for ice out on pool 2? Think Ill plan on putting the boat in on the 27th of Feb.
I bet that ice is pretty thick down there. But, with some nice salty runoff she’ll probably open up pretty fast. Feb 18th. Oh ya, I want a trip this spring!!! Love P2 fatties.
I got one fish that was just a hair over 30″ a couple days into October last year. That fish is in my avatar, and here it is in full size. I don’t think the pic does the fish justice (10.3# on my digital with no winter belly), so you’ll just have to trust me. I didn’t get any others over 29″. Buschman is one of the more optimistic people I know about really big fish on Pool 2, but then again he catches an awful lot of them!
holy sumo! i hope you put her back so i can catch her in march when shes got a few pounds of eggs in her!
Pool 2, they all go back! C&R only, but unlike lakes, open year around to walleye fishing. Pool 2 is inland water rather than border water to. So the one line rule applies.

Nice fish, John. I also think that fish has a lot of room to fill out. Could go 14 some day!!!

buschman, what is your name in real life? you look awfully familiar to a guy i knew who worked at Prince of Peace church in burnsville???
Hi Micah, my name is Joe Busch. Grew up in the afton/cottage grove area. Never worked down in burnsville but he’s one unlucky fella to match my mug shot
John, to be honest I give most the credit to you guys here at IDO to alot of those big fish I caught. All I can do is try and return the favor Good advise, lots of time and a little luck = big pigs on P2.
