Well thought I’d cheer myself up and look at what’s going on on the Ol’Miss. 12 minutes, intercept, fumble, and missed field goal, and can NOT stop the run. Not sure what gives, they keep saying well we fixed last weeks problems, well maybe, but they keep have dumb penalties and aren’t effective. Lots of game to go, where their heads are the sun isn’t shining. good luck, On to fishing info. Yeah. Jack.

I am a Viking fan, but think Daunte ( 5 turnovers ) should never have been out there for the second half, what a total embarassment and JOKE. I would have liked to have watched GreenBay play TampaBay instead, and that is a difficult thing to say. Jack..
Watch Green Bay start playing to win the division…November 17, 2003 at 12:33 am #282097Yep…. another bad day for Viking fans. I see that they are now back into LAST seasons level of play. ouch.
November 17, 2003 at 1:47 am #282103so sad today, i predicted after last weeks loss they would now lose 7 games. please prove me wrong guys. it sucks when they won’t bring in our other quarterback in a game like today. no playoffs this year, bench culpepper, he gets rattled tooooooooooooo easy in crunch time. what good is culpeppers height, how tall is flutie again? still a fan, always have been and always will be
November 17, 2003 at 1:28 pm #282117The true Vikes are showing up (no defense and over rated quarterback that should be on the bench).
November 17, 2003 at 2:45 pm #282124Viking’s who???
Just remembered why I hunt and fish soooooo much……..
airpartPosts: 170November 17, 2003 at 7:28 pm #282154Be happy that you at least had a chance at the beginning of the season. We Bears fans are ready to pull out our hair and the Coach’s hair too!!! The Vikes have potential, The Bears are an embarassment.
2Fishy4UPosts: 973November 17, 2003 at 8:23 pm #282159Why a Viking Fan. At least stick with a team that plays together, win or lose. I am from Minnesota, but the Pack was here first and mean so much more. Obviously, GB has gotten off to a shaky start, but they stick together and win/lose together. Can you say the same thing for Viking players like Carter (big crybaby), Moss (he learned well) and Culpepper (no IQ, witness Sunday.)
November 17, 2003 at 8:47 pm #282162want to hear about sticking w/a team>? My BENGALS are leading their division !!!!!! I was 9 or 10 years old the last time Cincy was good.
November 18, 2003 at 3:46 am #282147The year is still young and there is plenty of football to be played. Don’t make the mistake of counting the Vikes out quite yet.

November 18, 2003 at 4:03 am #282237Wouldn’t it be better if they just bowed out now instead of making the playoffs and losing in the 1st round as usual?
FallingRockPosts: 30November 18, 2003 at 8:34 am #282251Thats why they call them the 7-up team.NEVER HAD IT NEVER WILL!!!

P.S. Hi Dave
November 18, 2003 at 2:27 pm #281661Hey, I’m a Vike’s fan. Love the team. It has really been fun over the years. But when the talent is not utilized and the product they are selling turns sour, then I will walk away, and hope for “next year”.
I have yet to forgive baseball with the strike they did a few years back. I could care less about the Twinkies………
Point of the fact is that we have an owner who doesn’t care about the game, just the money and only the money. Sometimes I “feel” that there is something up with what is going on.
Culpepper needs to be benched, nothing more to say about that. He doesn’t have the mental capacity to lead the team as a QB. He is talented, but I think possibly too green for the position at this time. Once your team leader is rattled, then all else fails……..
FallingRockPosts: 30November 18, 2003 at 5:48 pm #282300You said it all very well in your post. They need to play as a team.
November 24, 2003 at 3:14 pm #282979Didn’t watch the game……………deer huntin’…………..sounds like I didn’t miss a thing!
I was thinking just prior to Gary’s post that it may be a Viking team problem in that they really have no seasoned vet leadership. Head coach is young, QB young, Moss seems to be trying to mature……………and all the new recruits to build up the future. Well, there’ll be no future (worth dreaming of) for any of those players if they don’t start heeding some veteran experience, example, and advice. The owner is the owner and shouldn’t be connected to the game. The owners job is to sell the product, coaches produce the product, and the players are the product. The front line’s got to buck up even when Daunte’s making mistakes. They need to PREVENT rattlings instead of giving us reason to want to bench one of the greatest potential players in the league. Daunte fumbles when not cool or well thought out. It’s hard to be either when your protection’s been lousy.
Defense? I too “feel” something has happened inside the organization. We were leading the league in intercepts and take aways up until game 7……………and looked good in the “points scored against” catagory. My thought? Bring Dungy back! Then get Holmgren out of Seattle and watch Green Bay squirm! (had to get a “poke” in there!)
November 24, 2003 at 5:04 pm #282993I know I keep banging the same drum but to watch the pro game just sucks!!
After being around the college game for a few years the guys have much more heart and effort.
You do not always get the instant replays and you may have to go to the game, but the intensity and overall output is sooo much better.
Just watch for any backside pursiut in the pros. If it is more than 5 yards they just stand there.
Watch Moss be the “decoy” when he had a chance to block, or just get in someones way he does not. He is indicative of the rest as well.
At the end of yesterdays Vikes game both teams all hugs and smiles.
There are no rivalrys when it comes to players, with the fans there still are.
At any rate looking at the lack of overall effort and excitment at the pro level keeps me from becoming a hardcore fan.
perhaps the worst thing I can say is that with the current amount of poor effort and lack of heart that many of the pros in Football have, it is starting to look like pro basketball ….now they are SAD!I will now step off my soap box and return my glass to half full
PS. GO WINONA STATE WARRIORS…beat those ND Sioux in the NCAA II second round playoffs Saturday November 29.

My beef with Daunte is in the rare times he is not rattled
he has tunnel vision.
When he finally does mature as a QB and gets good and can stay cool under preasure the Vikings will not be able to afford him.November 25, 2003 at 5:40 pm #283145Quote:

Hopefully he’ll take a lesson from Kirby Puckett and stay with his team. Kirby was courted by the bigger buck teams and turned them down because “he was a Twins player”. I think Daunte would like to say that he’s the first guy since Fran Tarkington to put the Vikes back in bowl contention. I guess if the day comes, we’ll find out what his convictions are.

I also “feel” there is something going on. I used to kid around with all the obnoxious Bear fans down here that football was all “rigged”. I am becoming convinced that there is something too that train of thought. There is absolutely no consistency in football the last decade. Teams come and go like the wind. A totally dominant team one year can return with most or all the same key players, or even better rosters, and go 6 and 10 the following year. Look at the odds sheets and compare game results with team who has the most riding on them. The outcomes on any given Sunday seem to very predictable then.
I am not a “conspiracy theory” backer exactly, but I think the NFL is drawing nearer to the WWF in the sporting vs.entertainment debate.
