Two of use kicked of the Alma fall bite today with mixed results. We actually caught quite a few fish, but size was an issue for both waldos and sauger. The dam was NOT the place to fish and expect keeper fish today.
Hair, plastic and blade all caught fish with hair being the best bait. Plastic was next in line and only one fish went to a blade. Hair color of purple over chartreuse and yellow over white were the two favored color combinations. Chartreuse plastics reigned supreme in that department as well as chartreuse in the blade.
Deep water was the key….25 to 35 feet held all the fish, walleyes included. The flow was slow and there was some autumn debris in the water. Water temp was at 49 when we left for home, up from 48 when we started this morning.
Another couple weeks will sweeten the bite.
