Storing plastics and other terminal tackle

I have to clear some room in my shop in the basement. I’ve always kept my “extra” tackle (more than I ever carry) in the basement winter and summer. Is there any harm in having this stuff sit in the extreme cold and heat of a garage?

    rvvrrat,

Storing your tackle in the extreme cold should not be aproblem. The heat of the garage could be harmfull to your crank baits and plastics. The heat will melt your plastics if it gets warm enough and warp the lip of your crankbaits so they will not be in tune. I have had this happen to me before and trying to retune them is virtually impossible, unless some of you guys and gals out there know of something that I have never tried. My advice would be to store them in your basement year round if at all possible.

    See ya on the river!

If they have a scent to them I try and keep them in a zip-lock baggie to keep them from drying out. Can’t tell ya how many times I have left the bag open and they dry out. I think that freezing them might take some of the scent out. Not sure on that one though. Make sure not to let them get too hot or your money will be spend on a big blob of plastic. I usually put them in baggies and store them in the house under a bed or something.

You got to like a guy who keeps his rubbers under the bed!
