MIA for two weeks. River conditions definately changed. Water dropped to dangerously low navigation levels outside the markers. Better than 90% of the entire face of every wing damn I fished was less than a foot below the surface! Real-deal prop eaters for sure! Navigation REQUIRES slower speeds outside the bouys and it isn’t a bad ideal to have to spotter with a pair of polarized sunglasses keeping a keen eye out. Be alert boys and girls – I don’t care to read about a Lund doing unmanned circles in the water with S&R teams dragging the river bed!
With that said, the pike & bass continue to ambush prey off the wing damns….especially 3″ Triple Threat Kalin grub tails on a variety of weights ranging from 3/16 to 1/4 oz pending current conditions. Best color was Brown Crawdad although anything with a little red seemed to attract attention. Bucket-mouths were hitting 6A cranks well below the drop. Ended up bringing two 26-inch peter-pike home for a combination of three reasons 1) Want to try a new pickled recipe 2) Figure my Y-bone skills needed some brushing up 3) Herd control management.
A northeasternly breeze had pushed bait fish along the western shore line yesterday.
