We(me, My dad Larry Ross, and my uncle Dean Ross) Launched at 7:oo A.M. from the 494 Launch for a morning of Jigging. Our first few Spot we had no luck but as we moved north our luck changed. We got to a spot and right away my dad caught 2 Sheephead. We got a lots of bites but no fish exept for the 25 Inch carp I caught fishing with a minnow and some plastics. It wieghed about 8.2 Lbs. After a while we moved to a new spot a litte south from there and My dad Caught another Sheephead and a pretty good Northern. At the end of the day our fish count was at: 3 Sheepheads, one carp, one northern, and no Eyes’. We were out there for almost 5 hours. It was a beutiful morning and got better as the day went on.

    Walleyekid,

I saw you guys run up river a bit in the morning. It was somewhat of a slow morning for myself as well. I ended the short morning with one nice 25 inch fish and couple smaller fish. Plenty of sheepheads kept me company throughout the morning to keep me occupied.
It was a gorgeous morning to be out thats for sure. Look forward to seeing you guys out there more this fall!

    Steve-

How have the temps been? Just curious to see what this spell of warmer weather has been doing to the river.

Here is a pic of Walleyekid’s catch. It put up a fine fight and he won the battle.

What temp to these shad start to die off, if you close your eyes and listen early in the morning at the head of the lake on pool 4 it sounds like its raining. Oh well, I guess the seagulls are happy.

I’m not a big fan of seagulls OR shad… lol

They’re so thick up to the dam that my guys and I averaged 4- 6 snagged shad an hour each during our brief time spent up there. Our lines literally jumped and twitched below the boat as the shad ran into our lines as they swam by. Water temps are upper 50’s – low 60’s and the shad look much to happy and healthy to me!

    Die shad, die! <–

The water temps on pool 2 were between 57.2 and 59.4 last night. Only put 2 small fish in the boat, nothing picture-worthy… Those shad are everywhere!
