I can’t wait to get back on Pool 4, as this open water St. Croix guiding season comes to an end, Pool 4 is the fishing hole where dreams come true!!! As we all know Pool 4 is one of the regions top waters, and really a “confidence” producing water.
Why is it confidence water? Like Mille Lacs or Lake of the Woods simply there are so many eyes and saugers in that section of the Miss, that it can be hard to go wrong, if a place on Pool 4 looks, feels, and smells good, count on one thing at least some fish are down there or near – the population in relative terms is that high.
Does that mean a fish per cast? – Get real – fishing is like baseball, you can’t get a hit every time – and If you can please email me asap, we need to talk! But pool 4 gives the chance to catch numerous walleye every trip out, and trophies to boot, and that is a hit with me.
I had a complete come together year last year in regards to river walleye fishing – river flow and how it changes and determines the bottom and of course walleye location in regards to structure. In a less fishery the same process would have taken three times as long and the sequence of events that happened, may not have happened.
Give Pool 4 a chance if you’re a lake fisherman, the flowing waters is all about skill, and once you crack the river nut – it’s Tight lines!
