So Im on pool 5 on sunday in a little area along some rock fishing for bass. I notice a big fish up shallow and normally I play it off as a carp. But it caught my eye for a few reasons. It wasnt spooked at all as I approached it and it was just hovering there. (I’ve fished Deer, Bone and Trade lake in northern WI enogh to know what a hovering muskie looks like in the spring). As I got closer, I noticed it had the oragne tail and what looked like the vertical stripes of a muskie. This fish was every bit of 36 inches. I just couldnt get a perfect look to verify what it was, (visibility of about 1 foot at best). But, I am almost certain it was a muskie. Ive seen millions of carp in the river and it could not have been a carp. Possibly anorthern, but it had the orgrange/red tail color of a muskie along with the markings.

So has anyone run into muskies on the river, or am I just seeing things?
