    Hi,

Just read in the paper that water bomber pilots just stated their main concern of events over the summer. Boats insist on drag racing the plane. One pilot stated that they came within feet of hitting a boat.

These people in the boats must be crazy!!! Once the water bomber is commited to take in water there is no way that it can turn! It’s only gonna go straight! Also the plane needs over a 1/2 mile of unobstructed water to take off again! Remember these planes are hitting the water at 120 kph or almost 75 miles an hour!!

When I see them working a lake and I’m remotely close to them I tuck in some where where I’m right out of the way!!!

Has anyone else seen something like this? Talk about playing with your life and not to mention the pilot’s life!

    To the Crazy People:

These guys work long enough stressfull hours…….LET THEM DO THEIR JOB!!!!

I’ve never seen a water bomber either… but I know if I did I wouldn’t get close enough to see the whites of their eyes or anything stupid like that!

    Besides, my boat won’t do 75 mph…. and I hate losing races…LOL

    Hi James,

When I see them coming I head for shore. First..the rooster tail is amazing, second the wake is a wall! These guys that fly these things must have nerves of steel. I live on a lake here and see them come in one spring and the way the wings wobble and shimmy is unbelievable!

    Hey Roger,

I have seen these planes work a lake, Namakin, and I didn’t want to ba anywhere close. The sound they make scared the [censored] out of me. I didn’t see them come over the trees, just heard them, and when they came into sight they were so close to the tree tops I just sat there with my mouth open. These pilots have to have some large seeds. It was most exciting to watch them drop down and hit the water, and then scald those engines to pick it up again.

This happened a couple of years ago when there was a pretty big fire on the Canadian side of Namakin Lake up in Voyageurs National Park.

Good to see you around this board. How is the new house coming? Becoming a home again I hope.

    Hi TBO!

House is built and am settled in. Didn’t get out fishing as much as I wanted to but after the fire there was lots to do. Contractors built the house but I had to do the landscaping. It’s amazing how that machinery can rip a yard apart!!!!
