Does anyone happen to know why there are so many weeds floating in pool 10? There are large mats of weeds everywhere.Other years there has been weeds but I don’t remember them being this bad. Makes it hard to keep a crankbait down.

We’ve had a fair amount of rain recently and I think its from the the water coming up on the banks and taking in weeds off of banks. Someone correct me if Im wrong. This always happens after a rise in the stage. They usually disappear after a couple dry days of weather. A couple days ago I noticed that up here on pool 8 but now its a little better.

I digress! I was out today on Pool 8 and the weeds clumps are still floating everywhere you go. If I remember correctly, this does happen every fall and it lasts for a lot longer than you would want it to. I think whats happening now is the air temps get cold enough to kill off the weeds which hang around the shorelines and get picked up by the flow.

Boy-howdy are there ever weeds on pool 10. fished the dam today. The fish were many but small so we tried to fish wing dams with crank baits. The weeds made it impossible, we ended up going back to the dam to catch & release. Only caught one legal fish. Oh well, gotta get better soon. good luck ……..B

I was just wondering what everyone thought about the weeds floating. I always thought it was the wind and waves that broke them loose.

I’ve been vertical jigging mostly. I’d like to be able to throw or troll some crankbaits, but just can’t keep one down, without getting fowled.

Just mother natures way of flushing the toilet. It happens every fall. Dead weeds float down and when the water comes up in the backwaters all of the duckweed makes an exodus. Good time to go bow-hunting til the river clears up a little.

I gotta use the weed flow time to get the honey-dos done so when they clear up and the water has cooled a little more here I can really give ’em heck! I hope I won’t be thrown off the board for mentioning honey-dos! LOL

Weeds are terrible now on 13 and 14 as well. Even vertical jigging is a real trial on one’s patience!

I have’nt been to the river since last week. I fished for 4 days. Caught fish each day but the weeds were a hassel. I wanted to troll or cast the wing dams but it was tough to keep a crankbait down. Don’t know why I did’nt try some weedless lures!!

But I don’t know what the weeds are like today.

    Good luck.
