I have been concentrating on crappies for the last month and was just wondering if anybody is having any success with the eyes and saugers on pool 8? Is the wingdam bite still going? If it is I thought I would try out some jig and plastic action.

Fish can still be caught on the dams, but there is one limitating and irritating obstacle….GRASS The grass makes it very tough for trolling and live bait presentations. I was out on 7 this past Saturday and managed a few eyes, but like I mentioned, the grass made it very tough. Hopefully that will blow out of here soon.

Mike C and I are heding out tomorrow after work. I have found some fish on a 1/4-3/8oz jig/minnow. Nothing to brag about yet. The water temp is still dropping and the flow did come up some with the rains. Things should start getting hot for everyone soon.

Why exactly do you guys and on down to the lower pools too keep having so much trouble with grass? I hear it come up at several different times in the year. Wheres it all coming from? Snoppy, ain’t I.
    Thanks, Bill

    Good question sir,

On pools 7, 8, and 9 we have had a South wind for (as a teen would say) like ever dude And a low flow. Things are not cleaning them selves out, they are backing up

The weeds are coming from annual die off. With good flow and a North wind, things keep moving through keeping things from bunching up…..make since

Going vertical for eyes/saugers right now will help avoid fighting the weeds as much, and keeping the baits in the water longer

This is just a theory of mine

    What Bart said
Also, we have a ton of backwater areas and more flow than the trickle that pool 4 is. The backwaters here are loaded with grass and a host of other weeds that die off and break free. Makes it tough to fish until the weeds clear out

Thanks guys. Sounds like a pain in the neck when the weeds cut loose. With all those weeds down there its no wonder why its such good bass fishing in those areas.
    Thanks, Bill
