a NEW WING DAM on Pool 8

I don’t know if you know , but there is a NEW WING DAM at the upper end of the old river channel ( Raft channel) on pool 8.

I was out on Monday and here is the wing dam where the WAS NONE, two weeks ago. what is really scary is that where it is located was previously 10 plus foot of water. There is a buoy at the wing dam but with water fluctuation, who knows how long it will last.

I would be EXTREMELY CAREFUL if you go this way.. I had little or no water on the FLASHER going over the top of the dam.

the other concerns I have is that this area is a big water ski area. I am afraid some one is really going to get hurt because of where this is located, since there has NEVER BEEN A DAM THERE BEFORE.

The Corps has been doing some work in that channel the past 2 months.I heard it was some restoration/habitat improvements. It will probably take a boathouser to mark it.Where is it located?

Are you talking about the East or West Channel? I guess I am not familiar with the old raft channel.

I can’t believe they would be dumb enough to put a wing dam there that is shallow enough to wreck motors, but you never know I guess. Someone needs to get a push pole out and measure the depth of it, since the water right now is about as low as it ever gets.
