just got back from Duck Hunting and waleye fishing. My father and a couple buddies own a house southeast of Devil’s Lake.

The Duck Hunting is just tremendous out there, and the walleye fishing was excellent as well. I really had a great time. If anyone that is interested in a combo trip of Duck hunting and fishing this is hard to beat.. This is my 9th year in a row out there and I look forward to that week every year,

We also got into some nice upland bird hunting (grouse, and partridge) Northern fishing was also excellent and the biggest white bass I have ever seen,,,,

How about the perch fishing in winter? I would like to go out there but have no idea where to go and don’t want to waste a trip out to find nothing. I have about 2- 4 guys wanting to go there next year. Any information or ideas appreciated. Thanks

Mazner, did you discover the art of pitching cranks out there or did you stick to your jigging. Those whities out there are huge!! Fireflick, perch fishing in DL can be hit or miss in the winter. I heard last year was tuff. Not that you cant do well but there is sooooo much forage in that lake (freshwater shrimp). Check out the “Perch Patrol” guide service. http://www.fishingbuddy.com may help also. Theres a lake called Lake Darling, about two and a half hours west of DL, that has had better perch ice fishing the last few years. At least thats from what I here from my ND buddies.

you know me dirk!! I just tossed my mister twister’s (chartruse of course) until I had my limit and then went back to Duck camp for uechre and some drinks!!!!!

Last winter (dec) I went out to devils lake and tried the perch fishing….. I found that there is so much forage that you cannot really MAKE them bite…. they are pigs…. I found that the best perch fishing was some of the smaller lakes….. It is no secret but lake loretta is fantastic as well as some others ……. I have also heard mixed stories on the “perch patrol”. Good and Bad for my money If you are into going to Devils Lake for the walleye/perch, got to ed’s (baitshop) and see where they are biting they will even give you the gps coordinates,,,,,, good luck fireflick and drop me a private if you are interested in further info the northern fishing on Loretta is phenominal also////////

Mazner, can you take the lake info you just shared, and start to share it on the http://www.fishthelake.com sister site? Everyone seeking “lake information” is beginning to look there, and all of them would sure appreciate it. The FTL site is realy building and it is information like this that makes that happen. Good info. Thanks, Hawger

I sure will Hawger….. I have never visited the site since I stick mostly to “my old lady down the road” the only time I fish a lake is Devils Lake or when one of the fellas from the board takes me out on Pepin…. but I sure will share anything that I have…..

should be a good time.. If I remember bulah is just to the west of minot…. I stayed in Minot my fisrt 3 years out there before we bought a house. are you actually staying in bulah? I know that there isn’t a lot of motels in the smaller cities…. a lot dryer than the last couple of years also.. but I found the ducks were a lot more concentrated

I’ll be hunting the same area Oct. 18-20. I’ve heard the rooster numbers are good this year. Dont just limit yourself to the immediate Hazen-Beuhla area unless you’ve got private land to hunt. There are tons of areas around the lake to roust roosters and there should be plenty of honkers around. Bring you fishing poles and give the tailrace a shot after dark for walleyes. E-mail me if yoou want. Good luck.

WE DO HAVE ALOT OF PRIVATE LAND TO HUNT BUT WE’RE NOT LIMITING OURSELVES TO JUST THAT AREA, NOT TAKING THE POLES ON THIS TRIP AS WE DID THAT OVER THE SUMMER.FISHING WAS FIN-TASTIC………I THINK WE’LL BE STAYING IN BULAH AT THE AMERICINN??? MAYBE WE COULD HOOK UP???
