Ahhh… Cold Weather

Who ordered this weather? I suppose I have to thank them since it means that hunting season is right around the corner.

I’d like to wrap up my open-water season with a couple more good trips, but after that the questions start rolling in:

Are my reels ok in the garage? Usually I leave them out there, but this year I bought a baitcaster with a 1-piece aluminum frame. Will condensation on the inside of the frame wreck it?

Take them apart and give them a cleaning and a light lube (abu garcia oil) or sewing machine oil (same same) work nicely. Then take all the drags and let them all the way off (greatly extends their life) Keeps them from getting a dead spot in the drag. These 2 simple steps are all that is really needed to keep them in fine working order for the next year.
