I will be fishing pool 4 from Lake City on Sunday (gotta find my long johns) Has the water been cooling? I don’t know whether to fish the upper half of Pepin or run up the river to the dam. Isn’t it a little early even with this cold push to hang out near the dam?

Your best bet is to fish the upper part of the lake on up to the dam area. I have heard reports of some people getting fish anchored at the dam but it is still to early to get anything of size in good numbers. I was out on wed and the bite was a little off with numbers being on the low side but the size was good with the average fish being 19″ to 20″ rigging crawlers on the channel edges produced the best for my boat.

With the colder weather hanging on for a few days and the water temps dropping it could make for a good bite this weekend. The water temp on pool 4 as of wed was 64 degrees and if the temps stay as cool as they say by this weekend we should see high 50’s in and the bite should really start to pick up.

    See ya on the river!

    Dustin
