Headed to fish both lakes in 2 weeks . Any pointers on this time of year for the lakes? Had a great time in spring on Gull , but have never been there in fall time. Sure hope this cold front gets out of the way. Thanks, FF

Big Pine is touch and go right now. I have a friend from Perham that fishes Big Pine every other weekend. Cold front could be tough this weekend. Look for humps closer to shore with steep breaks. Fish from 20-40 of water up and down the break. Big Pine turned over about 2–3 weeks ago. Nice bonus-look for fish 3-5′ off the bottom. Mixed in with the walleyes are 12-16″ crappies. Walleyes right on the bottom, crappies suspended right over them.
If you care to drive to Otter Tail-follow the same pattern. 15″ fish are going NUTS! The same buddie went through 13 dozen minnows in 3-4 hours (200 eyes).
He does fish with a semi-pro fisherman up there who knows both lakes extremely well. But anyone should be able to find fish-those lakes are full of them.
