Man apparently drowns while fishing in Red Wing

RED WING, Minn. (AP) – Authorities say an elderly man apparently drowned this morning in the Mississippi River near Levee Park in Red Wing.

Authorities say the man was believed to have been fishing from concrete slabs next to a dock at the park, but nobody saw him enter the water.

Police say somebody saw a body floating near the dock and called 9-1-1. Police say the man could have been in the water for as long as 20 minutes and attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Police Sgt. Bill Mettling said the man apparently fished the area often. His name hasn’t been released.

If i am reading it correctly it is the elderly man that was there almost every morning fishing off the concrete fishing dock at the marina entrance. A very friendly guy that I spoke with many times while working there during high water. He is in a better place where fish bite all day now.
