I want to be the first to welcome John Eggers to the reporting staff on FTR. I have had the pleasure to fish with John Eggers twice now, fishing for trout. John is a trout fishing master and a trout catching machine!

On a good 10 hour day on local waters (even after a rain when nobody fishes), John can catch over one hundred trout! Sounds un-real but in one day of fishing the Root River with him I took 56 trout and he took 73 in about six hours! Now… I have fished many days for trout when if I took six trout in a day, I was considering myself as lucky… but for me to catch 56 trout! I could not beleave it.

John makes his own spinners, which he fishes in exclusively in dirty-dark or “golden water” after the rains. He fly fishes too, but these spinners are deadly in this golden water! His innovative spinner is very big by standards, it is too big to even be considered as a trout lure by most. And, it is heavy. It is not a tiny light little thing that you can not throw far. Man, this baby sails when you throw it. But it has great lift and tons of flash. The “Flexi-Bow” spinner, I think he calls it… this lure is a real trout killer. Big or small the trout all clobber it.

Watch the posts he places when he records his daily totals, and imagine getting six to ten trout an hour. His innovative spinners and “golden water” trout fishing system is a total revolution in trout fishing. Welcome on-board John!

It’s about time we get more SE MNstream/river enthusiasts on board!!! Welcome John!!!!! I look forward to learning and hearing from you!! It is truly a somber moment, realizing the end of another trout season. Don’t fret, you can still fish for smallies!!!( i had to say it). Again, WELCOME John!!!

Love to see some trout folks as I dust off the long pole for a weekend of trout fishing in SE Missouri @Roaring River State Park. I have briefly perused the Root system while traveling but never fished it….looks inviting. Welcome aboard John.

Wow! I am speechless, Truly I don’t know what to say except Thank you for the great welcome.

Trout season may be over in the land of sky blue waters, but there’s plenty of trout fishing still going on elsewhere just a few hours from here. I do plan on trying for some of those smallies as well as some pike.

Thanks big time to Hawger for mentioning my Bow Series spinners. He made me blush. These spinners have been fantastic this year, over 500 trout caught. If you would like one or some info e-mail me at [email protected].

I am looking forward to meeting everyone at FTR. and want to say thanks again for the great welcome.
