I’ll be up in Brainerd later this week for a day or two – I want to hit the river for a few hours and was wondering which stertch is better Little Falls to Brainerd or Brainerd to Riverton area ?? I have a 18′ bass boat, can you run in both those pools with that safely ?

Bronzy, there are afew guys that will probably post a more upto date flow/ water level report. But be careful! Especially this year. There’s not much water in the river this year. Especially that far north.

As for where to go. Both are great stretches, you can’t go wrong either way.

I put in at the 169 access just north of Aitkin 10 days ago. Pretty shallow even for my 14 ft jon. Water is down an easy 1.5 to 2 feet from this time last year. Lots of stuff to run into! Fishing was ok. Lot’s of small eyes and SMB, nothing even worth digging the camera out for…but the fish are biting pretty good!

As far as muskies go, there must be something up. DNR was at the access doing a survey….

Try and get ahold of Steve DeZurik. He should have a really good idea of where you could drop your boat in without crashing it on the rocks.
