I have not done any night time Walleye fishing to speak of, and am wondering where to look for fish. I see by Hougie’s report that he was getting them shallow near rock or sand. Do you usually start looking in areas close to where they typically hang in the daylight, shallow flats, or any rip rap shoreline? I’m dying to hit the river at night, hopefully Tuesday night if all goes well. I’ll appreciate any tips to save some time groping in the dark!

Look for shallow points with rock and sand and fish as many as possible until you contact fish. Fish the ones that your convinced hold some fish until they turn on. 6 feet or less. Plastics on light jigs fished real slow letting the current move it or swimming it back to the boat. Or throw shallow running cranks parralel to the shoreline. If your having problems with boat control just drop the anchor for awhile, its much easier to work a spot that way.
