Saturday I am taking the family on a boat ride from Lynxville, WI to McGregor, Iowa in Pool 10. Are there any “must stops” that I should not miss? Like a great sandwich place, or a cool business, accessible from the river?

K jim, that’s a pretty short trip and the only place I can think of off hand is the falling rock bar just south of the lynxville dam. I’m not that familiar with the riverside stops in MarMac and PDC.

Yea, short but long enough with a 4 year old. We are going to launch across from the Falling Rock bar. We are going to do some fishing along the way down and basically just let the current take us when we are under way, so the 15 mile trip should take us several hours.

I do know of the River gambling boat along the way but that won’t work with a 4 year old. Praire Du Chien has a Blue’s Fest but not sure how accesible that will be from the river.

Maybe I don’t trust my fellow man enough but, I’d be leary about leaving the boat and gear unattended anywhere for very long.

I’m the same way, that is why I have been spending the past week rigging the boat like Fort Knox. I put a lock on the forward compartment and new locks for my rod holder compartment. My big tackle box is staying home. There is not much left to steal. And if I see someone trying, there will probably be another drowning on the Miss.

On pool 10 you can head into the yellow river. Form there you will see a walking trail that goes through the area. Its a nice walk and you shouldn’t have any issues with people messing with your gear.
