Fished Pepin on Saturday. The water was like chocolate and the bass we were looking for were few and far between. Talked to other walleye fisherman and they commented that it was slow for them too. I was surprised at how full of algae and other gunk the lake is. I hope the river goes down and clears up soon.

    Hi quicksilver,

I have not been out since Wednesday and was wondering what part of the lake you were on, the lower, middle, or upper end? I’ll be out on Sunday and want to steer clear of the dirtier water if at all possible.

    Thanks,

I was out on Sat. 7/5, fished Maiden Rock, trolled cranks and Lindy riged, ended up with nothing, graphed alot of fished though. Lots of gunk floating, looked like Mayfly leftovers. Hey Bill Caldwell passed you going the opposite direction bothways am and pm, how did you do and where did you go?

Went up to pool 3. Water looked ok, had a few logs/sticks floating in the water. The fishing, well I’ll be nice and just say it wasn’t good. lol. My grandaughter and I ended up driving around showing her what pool 3 looked like most of the time. It was only my 2nd. time on pool 3 so the site seeing was fun if you didn’t mind the wakes from big boats. Too humid to be out there in my opinion when the fish aren’t biting. Think maybe its time for early am or evening fishing time when its not as hot. Thanks, Bill

Fished the backwater this morning. Water was muddy but the fish did not seem affected at all. had good luck on leeches as well as cranks. The big fish bite was great.
