Found this a while back and forgot I had it. Sounds like they are going to be working on the dike above the Finger Lakes south of Wabasha. Anyone know exactly what all this gobbly-guk means for the fisherman? Sorry if it’s old news.
Lock and Dam 4 Embankment Rehabilitation
I read this proposed issue with the Petersen Lake erosion for Pool 4. After all the reading and this will cost around 1.4 million dollars. I have to say that it would be just as effective to pile or add more rip-rap to the shoreline than it would be to construct this so-called “berm” that goes out about 150 ft into Petersen Lake. Of course this is an “uneducated” person opinion…mine. But it really does not make any sense, other than to create more work for a few employees. I do not believe, it will be a saving the river thing…
If they want to extend this “berm” into the water further to save erosion, then extend the rip-rap out further. Cheaper, quicker, and would benefit things overall better….
