jdkeehl,
I have not been out since Sunday. I will however be out today, Friday and Saturday or Sunday. As of right now all I can tell you is that the bite was a little slow on Sunday for me. The fish should start to go here anytime now, especially with the warming weather coming. I suspect things should be picking up by the weekend already. The saugers and walleyes should be starting to stage in some of the popular deeper holes throughout the river, ie…. north of 494, airport, downtown st. paul, Lilydale area, and the confluence should all be areas worth checking out in the coming days.
Simple 3/16th to 1/4 BFishN Tackle Precision jigs with eitherringworms, paddletails, or superdoos would all be excellent options for going vertical in these deeper haunts right now. With the clear water we still have right now, I would start looking around in the 20-28 foot depths right now for those aggressive saugers. As a back up, a scoop of minnows might not be a bad idea for tipping your jigs right now. Plastics should get the job done on its own, but having minnows along certainly would not be a bad idea either.
Good luck to you and give us a hereo nthe site with your results.
