At approximately 8:25 P.M., after calling directory assistance for John Brett’s Phone number ,I called him and he confirmed that the Usfa Team Walleye Classic has been cancelled. He would give no details and said that a letter had been sent out and that is all he can say at this time. Lawrence Ecklor

These Texas boys are a little red under the collar!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You don’t plan a trip for a year , fish every tournment you can, spend thousands of dollars , make non-refundable plane reservations , motel reservations, plan your yearly vacation around the finals, plus too many other things to mention and then say its over a week before it starts! Who’s running this show? Someone has known this for some time and could at least have the decency to let us know they were having trouble. You can’t plan a 1000 mile trip and a week of fishing without a little planning! Something smells a little fishy…..USFA or Ranger?

My understanding is that Ranger is pulling their sponsorship of the USFA Walleye Tournies altogether. Why? Don’t know. Someones gonna get sued though. All those USFA anglers that worked to gather points to qualify for the Classic, all the money spent, all the vacation time burned, and then the organization simply says “oops, change of plans! Y’all kin stay home!”

Last year it was the mess with the tourney permits between USFA and the WWA and now this. I feel really bad for you guys. If nothing else I hope everyone gets a timely and “complete” explaination into what happened. It won’t change the situation or anything but at least you’ll know who to cross off your list for Christmas cards this year.

This deal even ticks me off, and I was definitely not qualified to fish the tourney! I did however plan on fishing the same area during the tourney and checking out the weigh-ins and such. It would have been a great boost for our area AND a great time fishing for everyone involved. It is sad to see the politics of the almighty $$$ mess up so many peoples plans. Very hard to believe it could not have been announced much earlier! I am not a tourney fisherman (Yet!) but can certainly share in the aggrivation this causes. Does not say much for USFA or Ranger in my estimation!

I fished the Team Walleye Events the last few years and was OK with the guys running the Minnesota end of things but you could see and here from them the reservations they had with Texas and the way things were communicated to them as well as everyone else.

Its been a tough year on tourneys but its hard to get the competition thing out of my system, I love it!

Got to old to play ball, I’m horse**** at golf and can’t get enough of fishin.
