Well I’m not sure how many of you use this reel or have looked at it but it’s a real steal at around $30 Pinnacle has put alot into this reel, with 6 ball bearings it’s very smooth and the bail movement is effortless I have fished with $200-$300 reels that don’t perform this well! If you are looking for a low cost reel or an extra for that rod in the garage try one you won’t beleave it! Cabelas has them in Praire Du Chein Wi.! Good Fishing!!!!!!!!!

Man who could argue with that price. If there half as good as you say they are Im there! Thanks for the tip I could use an extra one or two. Although Ive heard nothing but bad about pinnacle reels from a guy who fishes triple the amount of time I do, they must be worth that price!

I have a 2 year old Pinnacle Deadbolt and LOVE it! Very smooth, flawless real. It was a more than $30, but still a good value.

Pinnacle did have some problems last summer with their deadbolt reels. They have supposedly fixed all those issues. I haven’t had any returned this year so if this is a deadbolt series reel it’s a decent buy. I think they usually list the deadbolts for around 45-50.

The last pinnaclesI owned chewed through bail springs and gears like crazy when used a bunch. I’ve had 5 pinnacles fail, all the # 30’s, in the standard dead bolts and 2 of the $100+ limiteds, and each one crashed in approximately 6 months use. First the anti-reverse starts to slip and then then bail spring works on and off… then the gears fry. The same scenario EVERY time. Plus the deadbolts are notorious for causing horrible, incredible, line twist.

If these new pinnacles have those problems worked out, at that price, I’d be quite impressed.

I am running a deadbolt now and have not had too many problems yet. A few times I have had some problems with the drag not staying where it is suposed to and not get tight enough. Other than that I like it so far.

Unfortunately, I have had the same success as James has with his Limited deadbolts. All the superlines has wore out the anti-reverse on all 4 of mine a couple of years ago. I realize fireline is hard on the gears but these went in the first few hard months of use. But I guess with that price, tough to go wrong for maybe some backup reels or for relatives that hop in your boat for the day………JK

Not a bad price though, good luck

I to had problems with the deadbolt line, this reel isn’t a deadbolt product ! Hey if you ever have a problem with it Cabelas will always take it back (within reason) I’ve fished this reel all summer(3-5days a week ) with no problems hope you have the same luck!!

I’ll definitely check those out then. I’m always looking for a way to save a few bucks on equipment that is able to withstand a ton of use and reasonable abuse. That being said, since I started using the Fin-Nor reels (micro-light 1000’s) I’ve had ZERO problems with reels and I’ve got 2.5 years on a pair of them. They still feel new too.

The last cheaper reels I bought were some of the Gander Mt. Guide Series reels. Ummmmm…… don’t go that route! Not a good product and back they went.

Sounds like we need to run to Prairie then. I too second the endorsement for the Fin Nor reels. I have a couple of Finites and they are the best Ive owned bar none. And they ran in the upper 40’s in price. Couple those with a 6’6 or 6’3 St.Croix Avid rod and fireline and you have yourself a nice rig.
