Suzuki tilt

just discovered the Suzuki manuel “tilt and trim”-its so well balanced you can tilt it with one hand,newer models from 1999 and newer.

First question is—- will a 40 HP put my new crestliner 1750 jonboat onplane-the boat weighs about 375# , (im not really looking to go onplane, thats not what the boat is for) if it does go onplane, i would need trim wouldnt i?

2nd question—what motors for this size of jonboat should i be looking at–my first thought is max the horsepower(40 hp without a console), but i dont know if i need to

Buddy had that boat for a multi species boat….duck, goose, fish….. he had a 40hp yammi on it and it would flat haul….on GPS we would hit 42 mph…which in a ruff riding flat bottom on Leech was more than what I needed. Yah, it planed out no prob, and real quick as well. He traded it in for a larger jon, but kept the same motor.
