August 31, 2001 at 9:46 pm #233411Northeastern,
Tell me that’s the get up you’re wearing on the 7th!!! LOL!August 31, 2001 at 10:29 pm #233413Hey Beav, I know what you mean. Between the Lawyers and the clowns I’m not sure what to think anymore!
September 1, 2001 at 9:47 am #233415A lawyer?Oh no!!Thats NOT a good thing!I guess working for a law book publisher for 25 years,has ruined me for life.Even my attempts at humor are taken too seriously.Geez,and I thought”bovine evasion manuevers”was a dead giveaway!You do know what a bovine is,don’t you?Bob?…Beav?
BeaverPosts: 229September 1, 2001 at 11:45 am #233416I hate to admit it, but I`ve spent some time in a stream and, like you, have high tailed it from a herd of bovines who thought that I didn`t look quite right. Something about only being able to see half of a man sticking out of the water that raises their interest.
Don`t ever worry about being taken too seriously by me. It only gets ugly when somebody takes themself too seriously.
On a semi-serious note, I credit the time that I spent in trout streams for making me a better river angler. Learning to read current and riverine structure and how fish relate to it when feeding is what catching fish in current is all about. Many guys could learn alot by spending some time chasing trout. They could actually get a better insight into the down-current presentation that I`m always preaching about. I learned that in a trout stream.
And even though I don`t like this line of questioning, your honor, I will answer the question……”Yes.”September 1, 2001 at 1:49 pm #233418Beaver,both my original post and line of questioning were all in fun.My apologies if they were taken any other way.I was simply trying to convey my lack of expertise at angling of all forms in a humorous way.I’m encouraged to hear that maybe I can learn more about how to fish a river, fishing trout streams,as my time on the river this year has been less than successful. Thanks for the insight. You have to admit though that hiking up a trout stream, especially at this time of year, can be a pleasant diversion from the usual lauch the boat, run and gun, trailer the boat, drive home, routine. Not that there’s anything wrong with that,to be sure but,if you pick the right time and place, you can find yourself all alone on a stream in some of the most beautiful country anywhere. You just might catch some fish too. Thanks again
September 1, 2001 at 3:26 pm #233419LOL! I suppose 25 years of looking at law books would take its toll. I wondered what you meant by Bovine evasion, I guess the few times I’ve been trout fishing I’ve never had problems with any cattle.
BeaverPosts: 229September 1, 2001 at 6:04 pm #233420No apologies necesary. I have a sense of humor, but still can`t figure out the evil clown.
Yea, I always loved trout fishing. As luck would have it, my nephew moved to SE MN recently and has turned me onto some of the streams near his home. I`ll be buying MN non-resident licenses from now on.
I know that I`ve mentioned to James and some others that trout fishermen, or people who have fished streams in the past, have a great understanding of current and how it moves fish and usually helps them to be good river anglers.September 2, 2001 at 3:04 pm #233433wow.. and I thought the Pup and I were the biggest clowns in town…. lol… shows what I know!…..
but I thought the legal warning on troutman was pretty cute!…. as everyone knows by now, I like to have a good laugh included with some good info…. so that really works for me!! good post….
