I hope the bite picks up down there. The last reports I’ve heard have not been good.

if nothing else theres usually limits of beer and hot dogs

from what i’ve heard they have been having a pretty good season for quality fish. i heard they’ve seen half a dozen or so pike in the 13 pound range and perch well over the pound mark so far this year.

oh yeah, in case anyone is interested, LAX winter rec fest is having their ice derby at pettibone lagoon this saturday, the 27th as well…
    Thanks,

Newspaper reports like that scare me. I’m NOT AT ALL saying they are lying. My gut tells me, along with the reports I got from Larry Lake last week, that the bite down there was not good. Some friends of mine hit the upper end of the lake and struck out on 3 different occasions. They told me the water was gin clear. Clear to the point where they could see all the way to the bottom.

They didn’t hit the lower area by the marina. That sounds like the spots where the Perch and Pike were coming from.

I love to fish that area, but I also like to find out the bite quality for myself. Relying on a newspaper report usually results in disappointment (1) because the report gets exaggerated and (2) the report is usually a week old…. If I get down that way this week/weekend, I’ll post a report.

I hope to catch a bunch and post even more pics!

Let us know how you do if you get out!
I agree, newspaper reports aren’t all that reliable..When I wrote to Bob Lamb about my smallie this spring, I noticed that what I had said had been modified in the Paper I’m just glad the paper doesn’t say anything about the places that I really like to fish

    Bob Lamb…………….

We had QUITE the discussion one day some years back

Nice enough fellow for sure……. but he’s better at writing “feel good” stuff.IMHO

He’ll also give you the idea that Ed Stellner is the only guy in the area who knows anything about the outdoors….

I heard some rather discouraging reports from Lawrence Lake tonight. From the sounds of it, the Perch bite was over-exaggerated. I sure miss fishing down there.

    I hope it gets better.

no offense but if i waited to hear of good fishing reports to go fishing, i’d be discouraged as well.

None taken. I’m not one to wait for good reports. Anyone who does that usually get’s to hear “you should have been here yesterday.”

Having a network of friends and family who share info on hot bites helps eliminate “bad water.”

Besides, it helps to live 15min. from there.
