Fished the lower end of Lake Pepin Saturday. The bite was slow but had 11 year old neighbor boy with me. He caught his first eye, smallmouth and of course a sheephead. Also caught some pearch, crappie and a carp. The look on his face when he would hook into a fish was pure thearpy for the soul. We cpred everything. If you haven’t taken a youngster fishing for awhile you owe it to yourself to do it. It’s what fishing is all about.

Where were you fishing? I was on the lower end on Saturday afternoon too. I caught 8 and all were small. I had two others on but lost them. They felt a bit bigger, but nothing huge. It is slowly getting better down there. Good for you taking a little one fishing. We all remember when we were little and a nice adult took us.

We were in the Maple Springs area. I was going to fish by La-Caupolis but being it was Daltons first time out I thought it would be easier for him without fighting the current. Stopped and talked to Daltons dad last night. Dalton learned real quick. While we were fishing talked to 3 boats that were fishing the tourament. They all said they were having a tough time. Dalton took this that they were catching no fish. Now he’s telling everybody he outfished the pros. Kids are great. I forgot to mention for Rivereyes that he caught his carp on a superdoo.

that beats me!… Ive not caught a carp on a Super Doo yet!…… though I suppose it just a matter of time…..
I have caught a few catfish on them though… thats pretty strange… drifting a chunk of plastic in the current and a catfish nails it….

I caught all of mine on hair jigs. Mostly around Stockholm and Pepin rock piles. Keeps getting better every week. Very light bighters on the hair though. The wind made it very tough. I know of one guy who trolled near Maiden Rock and had great success. Lower numbers but larger fish.
