I am leaving for turkey hunting May 6th, but will also bring the boat to do some fishing in Pools 9 and 10. This will be the first year bringing both gun and boat. I am going to bring lots of rods and a very heavy tackle box, what species should I consentrate on from May 6th to May 10th?? Any presentation tips?….I am not looking for any life long secrets (cause I don’t want you to tell me and then have to kill me) but some general suggestions would be appreciated from a Miss River Newbie. Thanks a ton !!

    Hey Jim,

I just spent the better part of the day on pool 9 outside of Victory and Mn. Slough…Way Slow !! for the walleyes..There hasn’t been much activity on the water either. The river is coming down 4-6 tenths a day and will continue to do so for some time…right now if i was headdin out I’d look for shoreline structure and pick out the current breaks , pitching light jigs and plastics to them…you’ll most likely pick up a variety of sm bass, lm bass, walleye , sheepshead…If you get into the back sloughs , work any clam beds you may find, inside corners and current breaks, pulling 3/ways and cranks or crawler harnesses. I have Ice Fished these back waters before but never open water fished for pan fish, so with a little scouting around I’d bet you’d come across some dandy gills, perch and crappies.

Good Luck in your double adventure

Thanks Ecnook!! I am really looking forward to 6 days over in God’s country. This will be a “learning” fishing trip for me and I plan on putting a few miles on the boat. Good luck to everyone !! – jim
