If you have a pic to share with someone simply enclose the address to the pic inside of [image] tags.

    For example…. [+image]http://www.fishtheriver.com/images/bigdarnfish.jpg[/image+]

I added the + symbols to the image tags to keep the tags from actually working. Without those symbols all you would have seen is the image and not the tags needed to generate the effect.

By surrounding the address with an open tag [] and a close tag [/] you’ve instructed the forum to find the pic on the web and place it at the specified point in your post. Too easy, eh?!

Try it. Anyone can post their favorite fish pics here in the forums at FTR.

Any questions just holler and we’ll be glad to help you out the first time or two.

The FAQ is also an excellent reference to all the things you can do such as adding images and bolding words etc, etc.

Any and all images to be imbedded in posts here on FTR are to remain within the realm of “fishing related” material.

Its fun to play but please lead by example when you do. We have the capability to turn off the ability to imbedd images for one or ALL users.

    Riv,

I use http://www.picturetrail.com. They are currently upgrading their servers so I can’t test it to see if it will work. I’ll try it next week and let you know if it’s worth pursueing further.

    Waterfowler,

Keep the file size under 50K if you can and set the max image dimension to 400 pixels. That size works well with the typical browser resolution settings.

Well after having my wrist slapped by the ftr staff I have cleaned up my act and wanted to pass on that a good web site that is free for adding photos here that won’t give you the problems others have is

    http://www.webshots.com

The only trick other than keeping the size of the photo to something reasonable is also figuring out the url to the photo. Usually a right mouse click on a picture in netscape will give you the “view image” option and once you are looking at the image by itself you will have the url of the photo in the location: box.

I’m not sure if this works the same in IE … I don’t use IE sorry.

I would post one here but I don’t yet have any fish related ones. Maybe by mid October the fish will be jumping in everyones boat at it won’t be a problem to catch one worth photographing.

IE is a little bit tougher. Here’s how I did it. Put the pic on webshots. Bring it up full-size in the window and then right-click and do properties. It gives you a dialog box and you can cut and paste the url. Let’s give this a try:

A picture of some jumbos on the way to the frypan, in the background you can see my boat. Here’s a good sunset pic.
