Yes,
You may want to follow the “Tournament Forum” for lots of pool 4 tourney info. There is an MTT tourney this weekend, but it is full.
There is a Walleye Searchers Club tourney also. You may still be able to get in. See http://www.walleyesearchers.com for more info.

April 9, 2003 at 9:21 pm #263695So with the 2 tournaments this weekend, will the Red Wing area be a madhouse? I was going to go out for the first time this year…might be by myself and don’t want to get yelled at by a tourney fisherman becuase I am taking too long at the landing…What time would be the best to launch? Shortly after the tourney is supposed to start? What time is that anyway?
thanks

April 9, 2003 at 9:24 pm #263697between the tourneys… the good fishing and the great weather… yes the Red Wing area will be complete chaos…. well… at any rate there will be 300+ boats on the water easy…! your really better off to hit it during the week if at all possible… that being said you can still have a great day on the weekend… just fish some places that are not stacked with boats…. there are plenty of great places to fish….
April 9, 2003 at 9:54 pm #263699Don’t worry a bit about getting yelled at. Against the rules! Sportmanship is number one.
Every tourney boat will be out fishing by 7:30 am. So anytime after that will be regular guys. You could go out of Evert’s, no tourneys there.
Go out and fish, enjoy the day, don’t worry about anyone else. Yes it will be crowded, but I have been seeing a lot of patience at the ramps and on the water this spring. And if you need a hand at the ramp, just ask….you would be surprised that most guys are glad to help.

What a great post! My favorite thing to witness at landings is experienced fishermen and women helping to educate and add experience to those less experienced. Landings could use a lot more positive role models like yourself!
Fish on!!!!!
April 9, 2003 at 10:46 pm #263702If I am correct, there are only 50 boats in this tournament, and they are always told at the rules meeting that if non-tournament anglers show up to launch, they get squeezed in first. But as JJ said, Everts has 4 ramps, bait, Ringworms, K-tails, and Super Doos. No waiting for any of the above. Plus, if you don’t wake Steve up and get him out of bed, he may tell you where the fish are biting, you won’t have such good luck getting that out of the tourney guys!
LOL!
TuckApril 10, 2003 at 1:08 pm #263754I don’t care if there are 500 boats this weekend. If I get a chance to be on the water, I’ll be there. I bet if you get sick of the crowds up in the river, there will some fishing down at the head of the lake. I hope this weather holds though. Maybe I’ll see some of ya this weekend.
April 10, 2003 at 2:39 pm #263758My god Waterfowler! You need to get yourself a boat! I still haven’t gotten the smell of skunk out of my boat yet!!
Hey everyone, if you smell skunk on Pool 4 this weekend, you can bet John is close!!April 10, 2003 at 2:47 pm #263759Thanks guys for the info, turns out that I will have a fishing partner this weekend and I think I will brave the crowds. I agree that Evert’s might be the best place to launch. I have only launched from Evert’s once, and he was nice enough to waive the launch fee becuase he was out of minnies. Where is this Young’s Cabin area? If I remember right there is a house on the MN side, south of the vermillion river just a little bit…is that the Young’s Cabin area. Also, are there any good areas that will be a little less crowded.(south of the damn, Y, and vermillion river area)? Thanks again, this forum is great, long time ‘reader’ first time poster!
Thanks again!
April 10, 2003 at 4:49 pm #263762That smell wasn’t skunk, it was mouse droppings. If you would have been a little faster, we could’ve had mouse dinner that evening. See you Saturday, let me know if you need some help catching fish.
April 10, 2003 at 6:49 pm #263776Thanks for the info. I’ll be up there this weekend with maybe a sick day tacked on. The fishing has been fair the last couple of times even with all of the boats on the water. Just looking to catch a few eaters. A hawg is a bonus. LIVE TO FISH FISH TO LIVE
April 11, 2003 at 2:16 am #263821I finally washed the salt and crud off my boat tonite from all the winter trips…hope for a short/sleeved trip this weekend
April 11, 2003 at 2:46 am #263829I hear that about washing the boat. I pulled mine on Saturday without a cover so I did the inside and outside tonight. What a mess that salt makes when it flies up and gets all over the inside. On the bright side my hands were good and clean by Suppertime.
April 11, 2003 at 2:54 am #263830That’s exactly why I have a “Winter Beater”…and boy is she dirty.
On the bright side, the “Summer Boat” comes out this weekend!
See ya on the water.
