Deer season

Why does a guy have to work ever? LOL! It’s seems we, the outdoorsmen (and women) never have enough time to hook up with our favorite past times. It’s a wonder we all don’t become hermits to some degree!
For the 3rd year in a row, I’m getting aced out of bowhunting so I’m doing it with a camcorder this year. I figure being out there and witnessing behaviors can benefit me for next year and thus be time well spent. I’ll be ready for rifle season though! When I’m not scouting and filming, I’m going to enjoy the freshly vacated waters for some peaceful fishing………….maybe I’ll find that muskie!
Peace Out!
August 27, 2001 at 4:10 pm #233144I will second that, can’t wait to get into the deer woods!!!! I bow hunt and shot gun, just went to carbon arrows what a difference. Hey Ken what did you mean when you said:( For the 3rd year in a row, I’m getting aced out of bow hunting ) if you have the time to go to the woods to film why can’t you take your bow instead of a camera?
Tight lines!
SteveAugust 27, 2001 at 5:23 pm #233151The first year I got aced out due to gig scheduling with an old band. The second was from a severe shoulder injury…………..couldn’t hold the bow up let alone add pulling pressure. This year is tennis elbow on the draw arm and though I can pull it, I can’t hold for anymore than 10 seconds before I can feel the aggrevation in the tendon. Can’t even target shoot well! One of these days, I’ll get back to it. But I can still hold a camera with one arm so there you go. Maybe I should have surgery and get a crossbow……………….nahh, I want the real deal. Have you ever filmed deer? If you like catch and release fishing, it turns out to be the same thrill! You see ’em, were in a position to harvest, but you “released” the opportunity to try again later! I filmed bucks during last year’s WI T-Zone season. No kidding! It’s a hoot!
August 27, 2001 at 5:35 pm #233152Was down at the DNR office in St. Paul last Wednesday to purchase all kinds of stamps, my regular archery and archery management licenses. In talking with the clerk, it sounds like they will/may all be on strike September 17th. If you want no problems or interuptions in obtaining MN licenses this fall, you may want to buy soon, otherwise there may be technical difficulties. I know it’s all computer purchases now, but all the State I.T. people could also be on strike….. and if there is any glitch with the computer system (and there usually is), I doubt the national guard people will be able to handle it. …….Just a warning to prepare beforehand.
August 27, 2001 at 9:21 pm #233172Thanks for the info Paul, I am going out right now to get all my stamps and licenses. My wife sends a BIG KISS your way, I would have been impossible to live with had I not been able to bow hunt this fall!
Tight lines!
