Is there a bait shop in Lansing. I would be coming in on HWY 9 most likely

Unless someone opened one since last April there is not a bait shop in Lansing. You can purchase crawlers at the Kwik Star convenience store and the gas station next to the Kwik Star has a bait vending machine. There used to be a nice bait shop in downtown Lansing but it has been closed now for several years. If you are coming in on 9 just stop in Waukon. There is a really good outdoor store on the south end. I believe it is the Sportsman Club or something along those lines but they have pretty much everything you could want.

…if you are looking for a good place to eat, stop into JT’s. Great food.

Does anyone know if the place in Waukon has willow cats? Sorry for all the questions, I’m trying spend more time on the water than hunting for bait. Thanks again in advance.
I will stop in at JT’s if I get the chance for sure.

Forget the bait. Go Plastic. Ringworms, paddle tails, superdoo’s, & 5″ Kalin Grubs. Once you have some positive results and confidence in plastics you won’t go back to dipping your hands in the minnow bucket this time of year.

Thanks for the info folks. Just a little follow up report.
We fished near Lansing most of the day Saturday. We casted cranks, jigs/plastic combos and some willow cats at a few wing dams. We went down to that power plant and also tried some jigs. Even pulled a little lead core just for a try but the weeds were a bit much for that.
We ended up at the dam Saturday night and Sunday morning fishing with the pack by the float. Picked up one fish on a Munchie ringworm in 16′ and had another good hit that I lost. Would like to get back out before hardwater but who knows.
