The following post was made in response to a question I recieved from Bill and Nate on the Walleye Site ………As of today USFA Team Walleye(BRIAN) and I have agreed to do a river division for next year. It will combine MISS NORTH and MISS SO venues and probably look something like- one event on pools 3 & 4, one on 5&6, one on 7&8, one on 9 and 10, one on 11&12, and a two day on one of those venues. I probably will wait till Brian and I talk again to determine for sure what we will do about fall tourneys. Probably one or two at most. I will probably not release a tentative schedule for a couple of days and then a solid schedule just after we all get back from the national championship on September 21st. Your questions and numerous others along with some exciting new things that are happening at USFA TEAM WALLEYE events next year(you will just have to wait until they are announced at the nationals), have prompted both myself and Brian(USFA) to consider investing several more years to to build up this division so it is fun for everyone. I hope this answers the questions, everyone has been asking me. Lawrence

Got a stupid question for you. I’ve just gotten into eye fishing these last couple years but am becoming fairly successful. If in the future I wanted to enter tourneys, how do I go about it? I’ve fished a couple of local tourneys, but not on an organized basis like your USFA. Just wondering for future consideration!
By the way, I owe a lot of my recent success to this site and all the help I’ve recieved from all the great people here. Would have taken me years to learn what I’ve learned here in a few months!Edited by Rooster on 08/21/01 09:36 PM.
August 22, 2001 at 2:55 am #232950Hello, Walleye Searchers, a fishing club, has 8 tournaments a year. The yearly dues are only $25.00 and it’s a good way to learn alot about fishing and tournaments and lots of fun. In the spring of the year alot of money tournaments will be taking place that you can enter also. The next Walleye Searchers meeting is Sept. 3rd at the Elks Club. I beleive they are closed that day so we will meet in the parking lot if they are for a short bit but we will be drawing for partners for the Sept. 8th club tournament. Try a few differant tournaments and if you like it then look into fishing a tournament circuit down the road if you like. This way you get to try it to see if you like it before you lay down a bunch of money on fishing a circuit. Hope this helps some. Bill
August 22, 2001 at 12:34 pm #232958In all honesty the only difference between a local tourney and mine is the sponsors banners and the chance to qualify for national championships,(which us rats usually do quite well in). Actually this year some of our teams qualified for three different national championships- Team walleye -Cabela’s- RCL Thanks for asking. Lawrence
August 23, 2001 at 12:39 pm #233014THE FOLLOWING IS A COPY OF THE E-MAIL I SENT TO MIKE IN REGARDS TO HIS QUESTION; Official info is supposed to come from an announcement from Texas. I have not seen any amount in writing, but I am aware of considerations in that area. This is ofcourse good for the competitors, because it adds subtantially to the purse. In asking the competitors that I fish around most have had positive responses with regards to questions about larger purses, with the understanding that just like everywhere else that also means larger entries. A larger payout to competitors was a factor in me deciding to run this division again this year. Thank you for asking. Lawrence
August 24, 2001 at 1:53 am #233041Hello, I thought all Team Walleye Tournament Circuits were built from the ground up for the weekend fisherman WITH lower entry fees than other Tournaments. At least that is what I’ve always heard Team Walleye say. Are they deserting the weekend fisherman for the bigger buck guys? Even crazy man agrees with this one[ha]. I know Bud, I’m a beep beep for writing this but everything from gas to utilities to taxes to everything keeps going up and theres only so many dollars to spend and a guy looks around for affordable Tournaments to fish and the one that brags it’s a Tournament Circuit for the weekender goes up 60.00 per tourney. I know you will appreciate me changing the subject so how many are you required to fish to have a chance to qualify for the Nationals? Three plus the 2-day event? Fill us in with the details. Bill
August 24, 2001 at 4:40 am #233049No not a beep beep just giving your opinion. Walleye Searchers will always serve an important role and hopefully USFA Team Walleye will too. I’ don’t imagine the team walleye competitors that qualified for the USFA National championship, the Cabellas National championship, and the RCL championship just by fishing with Team Walleye on the River last year would think $175 per tournament would be to much of an investment, but I may be wrong. As I said I’ve been out of the loop and still haven’t seen in writing what the final amount will be. I have heard $175 mentioned but when I see it in writing I’ll know for sure. that goes for the number required to qualify to. Three I think plus the 2-day. By the way Nate has something sitting here, actually it has been here since right after I asked you the last time if he had recieved it yet. I had intended to bring it to one of our Walleye Searchers Club meetings but as you’ve notice I haven’t made it up yet. I was supposed to stop in Sept 3rd and talk to Fishhunt I had told him I would MC the Pepin Open. Lawrence
