Just a quick note to tell you that the water temps have fallen at least 15 degrees in one week. I say at least, because it was still falling when I came off the water this afternoon.

To say the least, the crappies were thrown into a tail spin. I had some dandies, but not as many as I would expect. I’ll post a report in a day or so.

I was out Saturday and the water temp was 50 to 52 degrees and my fishing was a little off also. Caught more crappies of the dock. I`ll be winterizing the houseboat next weekend so I don`t know how much fishing I will get done. If I do I`ll post a report.

Remember keep you lines in the water were all in this together!!!!

Jeff, I haven’t been to the river since summer. What are the water levels looking like? Do you think a bass boat can get into Edick? I am going to be over fishing on Saturday with a couple buddies chasing the elusive crappie. Don’t want to get stuck you know? Have the water temps stablized?

    TBASS,

I don’t get that far south, so I can’t tell you how much water is in Edick. I was as far south as the Apple River and almost didn’t get into it. The level is coming up, but I could still see logs I shouldn’t be able to see, all over the place.

    Jeff,
Well we had a tough time Saturday. Kept 13 crappies between 3 of us but they weren’t very big. Between 9-10 inchers. Caught a ton of bass and 4 or 5 little bluegills. Not real strong bites either. Fished mostly wood and one bridge. The bridge held the only school as we caught several keepers off of it and several small ones. We never made it to Edick. I figured with the duck hunters, low water and the weight of the 3 guys in the boat we were asking for trouble. I think we will try it next Sunday. I hope the bite is better.

    TBASS,

Thanks for the report. I had a meeting at the lake, so I didn’t get out. The meeting ended early and I was kicking myself for not having the boat. I came home and headed to Geneva. Weather.com said 7 mph winds, but I think they meant 70.

I’m heading with my son to UofI Friday for a campus visit, so I can’t go fishing Saturday. If you go, and have a moment, I would greatly appreciate an update Sat. night. I’m going to try and head over Sunday.

They are going to start snapping soon. The big boys should start hitting so hard you’ll think they are all stripers, when they hit.

    Jeff,
I probably won’t be over to the Miss. for another week or so. I am heading out with some friends this weekend to Lake Wisconsin. I don’t know much about the place but but the walleyes are supposed to be biting. Anyways, if things change I will report but it doesn’t look like I’ll make it this weekend.
