My map of the North/Sturgeon Lake area (pool 3 I think)shows some of the land is “for use by indians” so I’m wondering if it’s ok to fish in there. Can you camp on that land, or is it considered trespassing?

Carp Chaser, I was in the area a while back. You can fish there with no concerns for trespassing as it fed by, and is part of, the Miss. I have a COE map that shows no campgrounds and saw none myself. There is a couple of boat ramps into the lakes mentioned off County road 18 which comes off of Highway 61. Have not been to either myself. My access was from the Wisconsin side near Diamond Bluff. My experience is that this is a very remote section of the river with easy access only from Hastings from the north and Red Wing to the south. Best of luck!

Carp Chaser.Native americans have purchased alot of land(aside from what they already owned)in and around Sturgeon and North lakes. This land is posted and non-trbal members aren’t allowed access. One can however, fish anywhere on these waters without trespassing. There are two launches in this stretch. One is on North lake and you can access the river from here but you better know how to or shallow water and or deadheads will be your demise. The other is just beyond Treasure Island casino,on Sturgeon lake.I haven’t used this launch for a few years but I think its still there and its a straight unobstructed shot out to the river.
