depth finder problems

i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem…..i have a lowrance x-125 depth finder, about 1.5 years old, and it is having problems reading depth. i have checked the transducer and it appears to be level. it will give a bottom detail but won’t display the depth. the depth readout keeps flashing, then will lock in, then flash, etc. also when i turn the unit on it displays “0.0” flashing for quite a while before it locks onto a depth to readout. i am just wondering if it could be wiring or electrical interference from something or do i need to send it in to be serviced? if anyone has had experience with this please let me know. thanks in advance.

Something similar has happen to me and my problem was I had two transducers that would mess eachother up, If I had both graphs on they would zero out. If I only had one on it would run fine.
If you only have one graph Im no help..

How far should transducers be apart from eachother if you have more then one? I just switched from the transducer to the puck in the bottom of my hull and they both work fine, but with the puck I have no water temp

I’ve had similar issues when my battery was going bad, I’ve also had issues when the little plastic plate I have my transducer mounted on came loose, and was causing air to get under the transducer. Also I know mine does not really know what to do with shallow water right away, for whatever reason it takes a bit longer for the display to show up in shallower water. Soemtimes it doesn’t show up at all, I turn it off an back on that usually works, the first time. It also helps for the transducer to find a depth reading first before you take off across the water. A little quirky. I run an x51.

Same here for a bit and it was corrosion on (in) the connectors inback… I took a toothpick and some dielectric grease and cleaned them out (being careful not to break the tpick off inside the holes)… then use compressed air to blow out most of the grease and you are good to go, and it will help prevent furthur corrosion…

It could also be a symptom that your transducer is getting ready to go… I just replaced my X-71 with X-125 (yesterday) with the exact same problem… after a while depth simply went away like a switch…

Talked to the Lowrance people and they state that the crystals in the ducers life expect is time certain and there is nothing that can be done… when they go they simply go.

New transducer with temp for X-71 $69.00 new X-125 $299.00… make it hard to simply get a new ducer.
