Boat, truck, and all went for a swim…

My wife was telling me tonight about a report she heard of a guy losing his whole rig, boat, truck, trailer at the dam at Trempealeau. A friend of ours came driving up in his boat and he thought he was looking at an innertube bobbing by the ramp. It was the hood of a truck! I guess the guy forgot to set the emergency brake and it slipped out of gear and OOPS!

The thing that stuck out to our friend was that the guy had all of the passenger doors locked on the vehicle and he frantically tried to get in the passenger side as it rolled in. He said he learned something that day about leaving the vehicle doors unlocked just in case the worst begins to happen. Sorry, I don’t have specific details, but that is the gist of the event.

Sure do hate to hear of accidents like that, I will sure be more careful in the future.

    Been there, done that!
The real kicker was that the next guy who showed up at the boat landing to hunt ducks at 5 AM, unloaded his boat and went out hunting without offering to help as I stood there waist deep in the water holding the trucks brush guard so the rest of the truck didn’t disappear!
The next person went and got help and the truck survived to hunt another day.
Did take some serious abuse from friends for years, especially when I always volunteer to back their boat trailers in for them!

I wonder if it’s still there. I need a truck, and could use a boat too.

This happend probably three weeks ago. We got there just as someone else was pulling them out. It was a newer blue Chevy truck and he totally submerged the truck. Looked like he got it started after he checked under the hood. I have been useing my emergency brake ever sense.
