Son and I are trying to decide – whether to fish Pepin or Petenwell tommorrow AM- Hows the bite on Pepin-pool 4 walleye-smallmouth?

The best way to describe the bite down hear is dull- The fish were either picked up by an alien spacecraft or are so fat from the unbelievable combination of Mayflies and the biggest ever backwater shiner run I can remember that they are too stuffed to move. Any info would be appreciated. Lawrence

    Hey Lawrence

Dams to the south will give up decent numbers of fish on rigs/bait and if the day’s right, casting cranks will produce as well. Some buddies had good numbers…. but nothing huge, this past weekend.

Lake bite is rumored to be real good right now around Maiden Rock and on further to the north. Big fish and some decent numbers of big fish as well. Slow trolling cranks in 16′ has been the ticket.

On the north end I’ve been doing well. Jigs and rigs with bait along current edges on clam beds or sand flats. Good numbers… several 22″ -25+” fish almost every day out to keep it real interesting. Cranks are still producing poorly for me but I know Dustin found ’em to be willing to take a crank 2 days ago.

    Hope this helps bud!
