Help me decide folks. It looks like the little lady has given the green light to do some fishing tomorrow.Should I hit pool 4 or 5?I’d like to go to both but driving during daylight hours wastes precious fishing time.If I ask her permission to fish both days could a few of you call her and put in a good word for me?

TAKE HER WITH,MAYBE GET TWO DAYS THEN.I DO,I THINK THERE SHOULD BE MORE WOMEN OUT THERE.
March 22, 2003 at 4:03 am #255185geeez.. tough call…. I know pool 4 much better than 5……. but one thing I KNOW is there will be perhaps 300 boats on pool 4 tommorrow… and there is never that kind of trafic on pool 5…… still I figure there will be fish going on pool 4, I would just head down river instead of up (where 99% of the boats will be)

March 22, 2003 at 7:11 am #255190its been a few days since I hit the water on 4…. I found most of my fish deeper…… in 25-30’…. but I would anticipate that if the water rises and colors more fish will be shallower and if you read Dustins post you would target the 15′ range for nice sized fish and 10′ and shallower for larger fish…. I would expect the fish are starting to move towards the dam right now and just about any current break will be holding fish…. sand flats and clam beds can be really good…..
the closer you get to the dam the more fish you will find.. and the more boats you will find… usually you can get a nice balance of fish vs boats if you are farther away from the dam….. a good rule of thumb is fish towards the dam early in the day and later in the day.. before the crowds arrive and after they leave, and explore down stream during the day.. this should give you a good chance to get on some good bites….. these are pretty general rules and need to be “dialed in” for a specific day…. last time I was out I did good with Super Doos… I saw in Dustins report that those fishing towards the dam were still doing good with those…. and that Dustin was using RingWorms farther away… I would expect a good bite on 3 ways and cranks to develop pretty soon…. natural colors like perch, silver, gold if the water stays clear…. or brighter colors like clown and firetiger if it clouds a bit more……
with doos and hair jigs Ive done better with darker colors like purple in the morning and evening and with brighter colors like chartruese during mid day……March 22, 2003 at 1:52 pm #255196Thanks guys.Looks like I’ll be heading for pool 5.It’s about 30 minutes closer to me,and I havent fished it much last year, nor this year at all.The lack of a sport shop bums me out but we’ll make it work. PFLUGGY,I’d gladly take the misses along, but there is a slight problem with her fishing tactics. You see,she has this giant of a walleye already mounted on the wall and I don’t.As far as I can tell she switched rods with me when I wern’t looking .Now until I somehow manage catch, and prove I caught,a bigger walleye than she has I’m not sure I can trust her during those very breif moments I take my eyes off her. Oh,and if any of you see her, don’t tell her I just said this…hehehehe.
To all, have a good safe weekend on the river or roads, where ever you may be.March 24, 2003 at 1:39 pm #255297We were on 5 a bit this weekend and did not fair all that well. Did a bit better on 5a. So how did you do?
March 24, 2003 at 7:16 pm #255323I fished pool 5 Saturday afternoon, but didn’t fair well either.I did get in a battle with some Sheepies, enough that it drew attention from boats in the area thinking I was dragging in walleyes, lol.I did manage to scrape up a few fish, enough that I wouldn’t starve to death if that was the situation.I did more relaxing than fishing anyhow.I sure hope 5 turns on this year and doesn’t repeat last year.
Pool 4 was so busy you could jump from boat to boat and go 2 miles up river.Busiest I have ever seen pool 4.
