After months of observing I finally had a day of fishing worthy of a post.
Just want to give a vote of gratitude out to those on Pool 4 yesterday. After hearing the horror stories of boats buzzing through the pack at 50 mph or people anchoring in the drift pattern, I found most everybody well-behaved and even cordial on the water yesterday (at least the “below the Y” crowd, if I’ve got my locations correct).
It was our first time up near the dam, and we had a great time on what appeared to be a slower day for some. Caught nine dandies 16-19 inches, and released a 24-incher, all grand-looking beauties. Even the smaller ones were thick-backed.
Also, I know it’s been said a million times here, but James and Dustin seem to be top-notch gents. James was very cool in the midst of hundreds of boat-launchings, wrenching on boat motors, and scooping minnows. He didn’t try to force his products on us, even though I grabbed two fistfuls of plastics as soon as I walked through the door. (Sorry, James, the hi-tech minnow on a #6 did the trick for us this day.)
Dustin also approached us out of the blue on the water for a “howdy” and quit chat.
So we’re hooked, and will definitely be back.
