NEED ADVICE Electrical Problem?

I need some electrical GOOROO to help me with this one. I know nothing about this so here goes.

I was running my ’89 17′ tracker fish/ski when I hear a slight buzzing noise from my control box (where the key and throttle controls are) 3 of my guages go bad right then. The tac, fule, trim indicator all stop working. My ignitions still worked so I thought that only part of the ignition switch went out. So I take apart by the ignition and replace the “ignition box”? Where the power for ignition comes in and gets distributed through 6 prongs to the controls. After I replace it no difference. I have juice to the tac, fule and trim indicators cause I used a volt indicator and they read almost 12 volts as it should I think. I called the shop I bought it from and the guy said to check if my ground was OK. So Im not really sure how to do that. Any thoughts as to how I might get my guages to come back? My ignition works, my amp indicator works and my speedometer works. Thoughts??

    I NEED HELP!

    Thanks

Haywood, Here’s what happened to me this spring.

I also had a buzzing in the controls in the ignition box, except sometimes when i would go to start it would only click, when i would turn the steering a bit it would then fire up. Your situation has the same symtoms as mine other than yours fires up. I also lost some power to the gages at times and has the buzz going. My problem was in the starter solinoid, had bad connection and actually got hot enough to melt a few wires. Replaced it, and works like a charm now. I am no mechanic by any means, but just something to look at for you. As soon as you mentioned the Buzz it took me back.

    Good luck,

    D

Big D, That explains all the catfish you HAVEN’T caught!

Speaking of Cats, when are you and my brother coming down for a flathead roundup with me and Deiman? The Kitties are frolicking right now. Better than the walleyes…It would be nice to get a picture of the Big D with a Big C. Let me know, I have NO KIDS Friday, Aug. 10th.

Any Ideas on how to test the systems that seem to be out?

Tac, fule or tilt /trim indicator? Do I have to take them out and if I do is there an easy test to see if they are fried or not??

    Thanks
