    Kinda looks like this:
    Blue Sucker

Yours looks less like a torpedo though, but maybe she’s a fat female.

It could have been a blue sucker (cycleptus elongatus), which are known to come out of the Miss. Can’t really see the dorsal fin on your fish. Just hope it isn’t one of those jumping carp, that finally swam its way to Minn.

Maybe not, now that I see the pics together. Good luck with that one, somebody on this site will know.

That is a smallmouth buffalo. Fun to catch and caught in large numbers in commercial netting operations.

I humbly disagree. It’s a blue sucker. I have the fortune to see most of the rough fish in the Miss R in pool 3 and 4. The color and shape is typical for blue sucker. The body isn’t broad enough, nor is the nose shaped like a Smallmouth buffalo (too pointy). Anyway, my 2 cents worth.

There is a blue sucker pictured a couple posts after the first one, a fairly different looking body – more slender. To me the first picture looks a little broader, but I could be mistaken.

Here is a link that may help:

i have also had the opportunity to see just about every species in the miss. and that is without a doubt a blue sucker, the body is not near deep enough to be a buffalo and the head is definately more pointed than a buff.

Ok, we can finally throw that ugly thing back in the water!

I kid, there is no such thing as an ugly fish when that fish is kind enough to hook himself to your line.

Yeah it’s a blue sucker, a fish I’ve been trying to catch for a long time. They are considered rare in MN, a real prized catch if you ask me.
