Suggestions for user titles wanted…

James, I know to some, perhaps even most that this will appear dull, but instead of user titles, how about
“member since” and the date registered. And yes, I know this copies the way some other sites handle this, but it just seems to be a simple and easy way to do it.
Otherwise, I can’t think of any.

How about a way for users to select their own user title, within reason of course? I don’t know if you have a way to control offensive selections. It should not be unmanageable! Camping on one idea above, expand to allow favorite river pool (or lake if this applies to FTL as well). Some of us are more southerly in the valley! Always nice to have a bit of variety. How about favorite pool or river and/or lake, with both showing up in the title?

As in:

My question is how do we integrate two sites with seperate ID’s and posts and such? I’m sure you know what you’re doing, that’s just a question that crosses my mind. See, if I can keep all my FTL posts, I’ll still have more than Riveryeyes, but Bill Cadwell will immediately become the new poster GIANT!

As far as I’m concerned, the titles are for fun so anything that can keep them fun and to have fun with, I’m all for! Even if I’m an “EFN SHEEPHEAD”! See, you guys are grinning already!

Maybe:

1-5 = newcomer
5-100 = member
100 – 300 = one a the guys
300 – 500 = regular chat box
500 – 1000 = senior chat box
1000 – 2500 = actively addicted
2500 – ? = Lifer

I dunno………….it won’t get me any lures but it’s input. Anything that brings a smile to the status.

Integrating two forums with seperate data bases is tricky stuff… but it can be done. And will be done. Will it go off without a hitch? Hopefully. I’m confident. But then again, I’m just a fishing guide… what do I know…lol I’ve done a lot of looking before taking this leap, trust me.

I AGREE WITH YOUR IDEA OF THINKING! I DON’T LIKE NEWBIE, REMINDS ME OF PROBIE, (NEW EMPLOYEE STILL ON PROBATION). I DON’T LIKE ADDICT EITHER…TOO MUCH OF THE OTHER KINDS OF ADDICTION. NOT THAT IT’S ALL THAT BAD TO BE ADDICTED TO FISHING. I LIKE THE: RIVER PRINCESS, RIVER QUEEN, AND RIVER DAME. First few titles should definitely be a hazing period – the people that annoy us the most when we go fishing:

Friend would be much better than newbie. After 10 post then member. Or could go member right off the bat so to speak. The sooner they feel ”they belong” or are a ”part of” the better. Thanks, Bill

I guess I don’t see a need for user titles. What purpose do they serve? One can see the number of posts somebody has made and when they’ve registered so that gives you an idea of how active they are and how long they’ve been contributing to the site.

P.S. I remember the first couple of posts I made way back when you didn’t even have to register. I think that was about two years ago. Been visiting the site ever since.

I like the idea of using fish species and bait species as mentioned above. Also like the hazing idea. Perhaps begin with something like stinkbait, shrimp, crayfish, minnow, nobait, then onto fish species in order of desirability being sure to end with the glorious catfish.
