Dave, I think I can help you out. Take US 63 north out of Red Wing to US 35, take a right on US 35 South until you come to County Road C on your left but take a right on what I think is Airport Road, follow the road until it makes a good bend to the right and stay to your right (looks like your going through someone’s back yard)down the hill. I’ve haven’t been there in a while. Most of the lake is about five feet deep except for a 30 foot hole that can open up in a day in mild temps. Follow the shoreline up to your right past the 30 foot hole to where the drop off begins, fish the drop off for some super nice crappies, white bass and sunnies. Have some crappie minnows along for a plain hook and split shot rig. Good Luck!

Unless something has changed in the last couple years….when I was doing creel surveys on pool 4, this spot was discontinued as a check point because of the lack of accessibility. If I got my story correct…..the person that lived in the house at the bottom of the hill…that let people drive down and park, died. The new owner got sick of people leaving trash on his property…..soooooo, he put a gate up to stop people from driving down his driveway. It was (is) a private driveway. Anyway, I talked to some folks that lived on top of the hill and they told me that they still let people fish there, but they have to park on top of the hill and walk down. It’s a long walk and a pretty steep hill. That was a couple years ago and things may have changed, but that was the case back then. Let us know what you find. Use extreme caution on the east shoreline right at the bottom of the hill. That 30+ ft. of water will probably be open or very thin ice. There are some very active springs in there. Be careful. Good Luck.
