I fish the super doo’s in the river(Mississippi)all the time and have pretty good success. I am wondering if anyone has ever used them for jigging while ice fishing. I would think that the movement of the tenticles would appear good eatin’ to those “eyes”. What do you think? Has anyone used them?

Ice fishing with Super Doo’s

You can add me to the list of people that would be interested in hearing reports of fishing Doo’s thru the ice. Every time I go out I debate on taking them only to leave them home and rely on Jigging Raps.
February 3, 2003 at 3:42 pm #251441I carry mine with me ice fshing and have tried them twice so far. Once on the river (Dells Pond Chippewa River) and once on lake Menomin. No luck in either spot, however I only tried two colors and I didn’t try any with the new scent. Both trips out were for a couple of hours and I think the only fish caught were smaller perch on waxies. I’m not giving up on them though and I want to try an experiment with them on my next outing. I want to use some scent and I want to cut off most of the body leaving only 1/4 inch and all the tentacles. This may or may not make a differance but I don’t believe it will hurt to keep trying? Anyone else with better results? Steve
February 3, 2003 at 3:57 pm #251444I have a friend that is heading “up-north” on a Lake trout campaign that I could see that these will need to get excersised there. The white tubes are a staple in the artiliary for the lakers and I see no reason why the super-doos would not perform equally as well on the right style of jig and right jigging motion. I will be sure he is equipped for the trip so he can report when he gets back.
February 3, 2003 at 4:21 pm #251447I’ve got some 5″ Doos in white that I should have sent with him. They would have been perfect for that application.
About the doos on ice…. Steve Vick has a “test doo” hung from the ceiling in his bait shop tanks along with a k-grub and a ringworm on seperate jigs. We’ve been playing with them alot lately to really get a feel for what each bait does in the water… not a true test but cool to play with. The doos pulse, ripple, undulate and “breathe” at the slightest movement while the ringies and k-grubs just sit there and do pretty much nothing. This is not a knock against those other baits, I actually use the other two more often, just that when the fishing gets tough in the middle of the winter, I can see why the doos excell the way they do. The ringies and k-grubs need a little more movement and speed to get a good action where the doo basically moves all over heck without moving anywhere… if that makes any sense? Maybe it doesn’t….lol But to see what I mean, the next time you’re down to Everts, head for the bait tanks and play with the individual baits. you’ll see exactly what I mean.
